GOOD TO KNOW
A few kitchen questions.
How do I choose a recipe?
Start with the ingredients you have and the time available. Each recipe shows its prep and cooking time, ingredients, and serving ideas. Use the filters or search to narrow the collection.
Can I put frozen meat in the slow cooker?
Thaw meat fully before adding it. Slow cookers heat gradually; start with thawed meat and check the finished food with a thermometer. Our kitchen guide links to USDA guidance.
Does doubling a recipe double the cooking time?
No. The batch selector adjusts ingredient quantities, not time. Use a cooker with enough capacity, follow its fill guidance, and check temperature and tenderness. The method stays the same, but a larger batch may take longer.
Do shopping lists sync between phones?
No. Meal selections, batch sizes, and checked ingredients are stored in the browser you’re using. Copy the shopping list to share it, or send a recipe’s direct link.
Are the recipes tested?
We haven’t kitchen-tested these recipes. Cooking times and portions are estimates, so check temperature and tenderness as you cook. Results aren’t guaranteed. Photos are serving inspiration. Read our recipe disclaimer and recipe notes.
Before you turn it on
Start with fully thawed meat. Cooking times are estimates; use a food thermometer and check tenderness. Cook all chicken to 165°F, ground beef to 160°F, and whole cuts of beef or pork to at least 145°F with a 3-minute rest. Braising cuts usually need longer to become tender. Cook seafood to 145°F and follow the package directions for mixed seafood.
Follow your slow cooker’s fill guidance; don’t overload it when scaling a recipe. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours, use within 3–4 days, and reheat on the stove or in the microwave to 165°F.
USDA slow-cooker guidanceCheck soup, gravy mix, sauces, and seasonings for allergens. Low-sodium broth helps keep the prepared mixes from making dinner too salty.
